January is typically a slower month in Hawaii Real Estate as we work our way through the holiday season. Historically we can expect the market to pick up rapidly in February, continuing onward heading in to the spring and summer seasons. Despite this being the slower seasons, we still saw steady gains in 2022 over the same period last year. On the Luxury spectrum of Hawaii Real Estate, the drought for property sales seems to have come to and end with multiple 10+ Million dollar properties currently in escrow.
In a statement on HiCentral.com, Chad Takesue, President of Honolulu Board of REALTORS stated, "Although sales are ahead of January 2021, we’re facing low inventory and rising interest rates that may temper the unprecedented market we saw throughout last year." Expectations remain high for 2022 however as Realtors anticipate another above-average year.

Hawaii Travel Update
Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Josh Green today said that the state's Safe Travels program could be coming to an end in the coming months. Under this program requires that travelers provide a proof of vaccination and/or a negative test before arriving in the state. This comes as the state looks to restore tourism to strength and bring additional jobs back to the hospitality sector.
