Oahu Set to Enter Tier 3 on Thursday
02/24/2021Oahu residence have done their part to help curb the spread of COVID-19, and the island is set to move into Tier 3 of the re-opening strategy as a result. With a seven-day average of just 29 new cases, the island has seen drastic improvements in the last few weeks.
The island has been in Tier 2 of the re-opening strategy since October.
Tier 3 allows island residence to gather in groups of up to 10, up from 5, gyms can now operate at 50% capacity, up from 25%, funerals can now have 25 attendees, up from 10, and there is no longer a limit on capacity for retail shops.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi will look into the possibility of resuming organized sports in the future, though it isn't allowed in the Tier 3 program.
