On Monday, April 19th, Oahu officially opened up COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to those 16 and older. Oahu was the last remaining island that had yet to fully open up vaccine eligibility. Last week, it was open to those 50 and older.
According to the state, this qualifies an additional 300,000 residents for the vaccine.
Hawaii was one of the last states in the nation to fully open to all age groups. As the state continues to jump start tourism, having residents vaccinated is a major stepping stone to restoring the island's economy.
