Iolani Palace Feels Effects of Shutdown
06/23/2020Hawaii's historic Iolani Palace is looking to its residents for help, as tourism has crawled to a standstill during the COVID-19 shutdown. According to a report by Pacific Business News, the financial outlook at Iolani Palace is grim.
The report states the Palace is loosing approximately $7,700 per day that it's closed. The upkeep on an older, historic structure of this magnitude takes a financial toll.
Iolani Palace is open for visitors as it re-opened last Friday.
Officials are asking local residents to purchase a ticket for yourself or someone else, become a member, or to make a donation in this time of need.
