According to a report by Hawaii News Now, state epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble explains the future of COVID-19 vaccinations in Hawaii may allow for recipients to choose their brand.
Currently, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been approved for use. The planned system would allow recipients to choose their vaccine. Each injection site would specialize in just that brand of vaccine.
Johnson & Johnson received approval most recently and is the only vaccine to require just one shot. While it's efficacy in preventing the virus is lower, studies suggest all vaccines are relatively equal in preventing hospitalization and death.
