Hawaii Expecting Wetter Winter as La Niña Holds

As Hawaii's wet season approaches, meteorologists are observing a holding pattern for La Niña, which is expected to bring above-average rainfall to the Aloha State. Along with a wetter winter, the state could see increased trade winds and more frequent passing storms.

La Niña occurs when ocean temperatures across the greater Central Pacific Ocean region are below average.  This can impact the creation of tropical storms and change normal weather patterns throughout the Pacific and its surrounding land masses.
