Honolulu has achieved a significant milestone: it has been named the safest city to visit in the world for 2024 by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. This accomplishment marks a substantial leap from its 12th place ranking in 2023 and underscores Honolulu’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors. The city’s performance in the safety rankings encompassed a diverse range of categories, securing the top position for overall safety, health measures, safety for women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC travelers, and safety from violent crime.

This prestigious recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the Hawaii Tourism Authority, the Honolulu Police Department, and various partners within the visitor industry. Their unwavering dedication to fostering a safe and secure environment has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in attracting and retaining visitors to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.

A recent visitor survey conducted by the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism revealed that over 90% of visitors rated the Hawaiian Islands as “excellent” or “above average” for safety and security.
